The Power of Early Planning

Many digital product sellers wait until the last minute to plan holiday promotions. I used to do that too. But it leads to stress, rushed decisions, and missed opportunities.

Here’s why starting now makes all the difference:

  1. You’ll have time to create high-quality holiday content
  2. You can grow your audience before the holiday rush
  3. You’ll have time to test and refine your strategy
  4. And you’ll build more trust with your potential customers

Learn from My Holiday Promo Mistakes

In 2021, I thought I was ahead of the game by planning three months in advance. Great, right? Not quite. I tried promoting three products at once. Talk about biting off more than I could chew! Only one product did well, while the others flopped.

Fast forward to 2022. I focused on one product, planned ahead, and guess what? I had the best Black Friday ever! But the story doesn’t end there.

In 2023, I made a classic mistake. I planned everything out, but two weeks before launch, I had a “brilliant” idea to switch products. Don’t do this! It was chaos, and I made fewer sales than a year before that.

The lesson? Plan early and focus on one killer offer.

Want to enjoy the holidays while also crushing your sales goals? Here’s how:

1.) Choose Your Offer

Decide on ONE product to focus on. Will you offer a discount, a bundle, or something else? Write it down.

2.) Work Backwards

Start with your product and plan your content backward. What problem does your digital product solve and how can you address this problem in your content leading up to the holiday promo?

3.) Start Build Your Audience Now

Use the next few months to grow your following and subscribers. Create freebies, engage on social media, and build your email list.

4.) Create Trust-Building Content

The 14-Day Magic Hack for Holiday Promos

Here’s a golden nugget for your holiday promos: the 14-day magic hack. Start talking about your audience’s pain points at least two weeks before your promo launch. Why? It primes your audience and positions you as the go-to expert.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Identify the big problem your digital product solves.
  2. Break it down into smaller sub-problems.
  3. For 14 days before your holiday promo, create content addressing these sub-problems.
  4. Offer valuable, free solutions to build trust.
  5. When you finally introduce your product, it’ll feel like the perfect next step for your audience.

This strategy worked wonders for me – it will work for you too. Remember, it’s all about building that know, like, and trust factor.

Make Your Holiday Promos Stand Out

In a sea of Black Friday or Christmas deals, how do you make your offer irresistible? Here are some tips:

  • Be Transparent: If someone asks about where they can buy your digital product before the promo – tell them a sale is coming up and they should wait. They’ll appreciate your honesty and be more likely to buy later.
  • Solve a Specific Problem: Your holiday promo should address a clear pain point. Make it obvious how your product is the solution. Have your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) ready so your digital product will stand out in a crowded market.
  • Create Urgency: Use limited-time offers or exclusive bonuses to encourage quick action.
  • Leverage Social Proof: Share testimonials and success stories in your promo content.
  • Keep It Simple: Don’t overwhelm your audience with too many options. Remember my ‘three-product mistake’ I talked about earlier?
