What makes a great lead magnet?
To answer that question, I’d like to share an experience.
A couple of years ago, I created a lot of mediocre lead magnets that didn’t attract almost any leads. The problem was – I didn’t know what my audience wanted.
Also, my freebies weren’t full of value because I was scared that no one would buy my products if I helped them solve their problem for free. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
At that time, I was still a beginner entrepreneur, but today I’m confident in my knowledge about what makes a great lead magnet. So, let me share with you all the expert tips.

Create an extremely valuable lead magnet
That’s the secret. You want to create a lead magnet so valuable that people can’t leave without getting it – because every time they visit your website, they are reminding themselves how much value you have to offer.
You don’t have to worry about sharing too much knowledge because if there’s enough great content, you will naturally gain subscribers who trust you and are ready to invest in your products or services.
The magic happens when you help your subscribers get results. And you don’t even have to solve all of their obstacles. They’ll remember you just because of the sheer value you’ve given them.
Know what your audience wants
You have to know the specific obstacles your ideal customer is facing. And you have to know what they want to achieve (their goals).
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. You must dig deep into the hearts and minds of your ideal customers.
To do this, you need to carry out customer research – find their problems. You can also research different forums and Social Media platforms where your audience is hanging out.
Find questions in places like Quora, Reddit, or Facebook groups where people talk about their challenges. Then use these same questions as content ideas for your lead magnets.
Make your lead magnets simple
You need to make freebies as simple and easy to digest. That’s why you should break up your content into smaller pieces and avoid fluff.
Make it bite-sized – use short sentences, lists, and bullet points to make it effortless for your subscribers to read.
It will help them digest the information faster. You can split up your lead magnet into three or four parts.
Use visuals in your freebies
As humans, we’re suckers for beautiful things – which is why you must always add some visual elements to your lead magnets.
Some ideas are images, GIFs, videos, or even slideshows that help break up the text. You can use Canva – it has everything you need!
Make your lead magnet exclusive
The best way to make your freebies irresistible is by making them exclusively available for those who subscribe to your list. Don’t ever give away something valuable without asking for their email address.
After all, you’re trying to grow your list and business. And you can do it by creating a sense of scarcity. If your audience knows that they’ll miss out – they’ll more like subscribe.
Make sure your lead magnet is in line with what you offer
Your freebie must always be in line with the products or services you want to sell down the road. So, when people visit your website and see this freebie, they must know for sure that you’re offering exactly what it takes to solve their problem.
